SERIES 2

In 2018 Portrait Youth collaborated with a school in Greater Manchester that provides a specialist learning environment and community for autistic children and young people.

We ran a workshop with 11-17 year olds from the school, using the ‘wear your identity’ workshop model, adapted for the needs of the group. The workshop enabled conversations about identity to take place through the clothes chosen and styled by the young people, using the visual and material language of fashion, where verbal communication was often compromised.

The portraits were on display during the IFFTI 19 conference in April 2019 and exhibited at Manchester Art Gallery from 30th March - 7th July 2019.
